What We Do
From capital allocation to proven value creation.
We work with private equity firms and their portfolio companies before acquisition, during ownership and at exit. We assess technology opportunities, build and implement solutions, and review the results of existing projects to understand their financial impact.
Before acquisition
Technology Value Diligence
Understand the upside. Test the assumptions.
We test where technology changes the investment thesis, which of the seller’s claims can be evidenced, and what belongs in the first 100-day plan. Fixed scope, ten to fifteen working days, six fixed outputs, every answer with an evidence level. A complement to technology due diligence, not a replacement.
During ownership
Value Lab
Build profitable growth and stronger margins.
We move from an Opportunity Map to a bounded build inside the real workflow, then to a measured result and a Stop, Modify or Scale decision on the record. Six stages, one Value Evidence Record. We engineer the intervention and instrument the evidence: AI, automation, software, data and integration where the value case requires it, never for its own sake.
We rank every candidate intervention before anything is built, on value potential, feasibility, risk and evidence quality. We do not prioritise an opportunity we cannot evidence, however large its modelled value.
Mid-hold and at exit
Evidence Review
Establish what technology has delivered.
Vendor deployments, internal projects, stalled pilots, a previous adviser’s work: the same standard we hold our own work to. We lock a baseline, apply the strongest feasible counterfactual, and return a verdict with its evidence level, one a buyer’s diligence team can retrace to the source data. Most often used mid-hold, when initiatives ask for their next round of capital, and twelve to eighteen months before exit.
A review has three honest endings. The claim is supported at the level the data allows. The claim is narrower than presented, and we say by how much. Or the evidence is insufficient, because the history, the baseline or a usable comparison is missing, and the review ends with a plan to measure the next period properly. We cannot know which before we start, and we say so.
We install the instrumentation that produces the numbers inside the company, and it stays there: locked baselines, measurement pipelines and a decision log. Vendor-neutral: BUSAC sells no technology, resells nothing and receives no commission from any provider.
One System
Not three service lines. One closed loop.
Diligence decides where technology capital should go. Value Lab engineers and measures the intervention. Evidence Review holds everything, ours or not, to the same standard. Every outcome, successful or not, feeds the next allocation decision.
Foundations
When the evidence cannot be built yet, we build what it rests on.
Diligence and reviews sometimes find that the data, the ownership or the monitoring is not there yet. Closing that is a separate, scoped engagement: data foundations, a governance model with named owners, and monitoring of technical performance, data quality and financial impact, with alerts routed to an owner inside the company. It ends at handover; the monitoring stays.
What every engagement runs on, and who decides
Input: what an engagement runs on
- Data accessRead access to the systems where the value lives: ERP, CRM, billing, the operational tools. Agreed in week one, scoped to the hypothesis, nothing more.
- Two sponsorsOne on the investor side, one in management, each able to say yes. Without both, a measured result has no one to act on it.
- Time from the people who run the processA few hours a week. The intervention lives in their workflow, and the baseline is only honest if they helped set it.
Governance: who decides what
- Baseline and evidence planSigned off by investor and management before anything is built. Once locked, only a documented change can move it.
- Stop, Modify or ScaleThe investor’s decision, taken on the Value Evidence Record. We recommend and show the evidence; we do not decide.
- Visibility for the committeeThe operating partner or investment committee sees the record at Quantify and at Decide, and can retrace every number to its source.
- What stays behindBaselines, measurement pipelines and the decision log are installed inside the company and remain there after we leave, so monitoring continues without us.
